Howard Green

Conference Chair 2010

The conference sponsors and organizers are extremely pleased to announce and welcome Howard Green as this year's CONFERENCE CHAIR. For more than ten years, Howard has been interviewing North America's top CEO's, decision makers and market players on BNN. Including the network's flagship interview show, "Headline", Howard also hosts the wildly popular "Market Call", a phone-in show for investors seeking advice from leading money managers.

In addition to his role as conference chair, Howard will be moderating the Power "Pitching" Den session where three embryonic ideas will be pitched by their developers to our expert panel of investment advisors.

Plan to hear and meet Howard along with twenty-eight other expert industry speakers as they deliver pertinent information and updates focused on this year's conference theme of "Powering Investments"!

This year’s event will host producers, manufacturers, suppliers, large energy consumers, investors & lenders, municipalities, and governments as they discuss the emerging opportunities for wind, tidal, bioenergy, solar, geothermal projects, feed-in-tariffs, and why the Hydro-Quebec merger with New Brunswick Power went south and the ramifications to Atlantic Canada!

The Gateway "Energy" Corridor to the US

Heather Hunt

Executive Director, New England States Committee on Electricity

Join Heather as she addresses the great potential for the development of an Atlantic Energy Corridor for renewables. This region has the supply but now we need to embrace a fully integrated plan which involves all Atlantic provinces and the six New England states. This will ensure both production and distribution of our excess renewable resources will reach the northeast US where the demand will remain high and the price will attract investment and development into this region.

Heather is the New England States Committee on Electricity's Executive Director. Previously, she had a regulatory law practice; was Director, State Government Affairs at UTC; and, Vice President, Southern Connecticut Gas.  Earlier, she was a Public Utility Commissioner in Maine and Connecticut and worked for a Connecticut Governor.

"W5" on Feed-In Tariffs & Storage Options

This session will look at the new “Community-Based Feed-In Tariffs” recently announced in the Nova Scotia Department of Energy’s Renewable Electricity Plan along with other key drivers in an effort to ramp up the renewable energy industry in this province and region.

Reflect on how Ontario introduced the first comprehensive Feed-in Tariff in North America in 2009 through with sweeping legislative change. Learn why, how and what has happened since then and hear first hand what the expectations are for where Ontario's Feed-in Tariff will lead the province next. Compare the value of feed-in tariffs as a key driver to ramp up the renewable energy industry in Nova Scotia and other provinces in this region.

Hear of how storage applications can be a viable alternative to developers and utilities.
The future of distributed energy is likely to be comprised of multiple sources of renewable energy locally owned and operated, situated very close to load centers and as a result, creating jobs locally and avoiding costly transmission losses.

Moderator: James MacDuff, Associate, McInnes Cooper

  Presenters:

  • Bruce Cameron, Director, NS Energy

  • Brian Beck, Prudent Energy

  • Luciano Lisi, President, CBEX Renewable Energy Inc.
